Taking Woodstock

8/29/2009

I would hesitate to call this a comedy, as I can count the number of truly funny scenes on one hand, but it managed to be quite entertaining nonetheless. Unlike most indie-shit movies, this one has an actual plot and doesn't get hung up on WAAAAH NOBODY LOVES ME bullshit, and the protagonist is capable of making descisions on his own without moping about it. There are a few plot threads that disappear entirely (the first "protective" services offered, the irate townsfolk, the finaincial repercussions of the "free" speech) which is absolutely baffling, but what's there is pretty damn good, though it does start to drag toward the end.

Rating: Beautiful.
